Online vocal lessons for contemporary singers

“I have found Emily to be a patient, kind, understanding, highly skilled and excellent singing teacher and person! She is amazingly good at recognising the level and difficulties you face personally as a singer and working with you to build up your technique, style and skill to a much higher place! She is highly skilled and knowledgeable in music and singing technique and has an amazing voice herself - and as she gigs also, she has a unique understanding of the challenges for a singer in a live gigging setting. She is super lovely to be with and so encouraging, putting you at ease so quickly and being so non-judgemental. I feel I can really be myself and be vulnerable with her in my singing struggles and wouldn’t dream of having a singing lesson with anyone else! I couldn’t recommend her more highly!”

"Firstly, Emily is one of the loveliest, kindest and most patient people you could wish to have as a teacher in this often-confusing topic. She immediately put me at ease and pointed out where I was struggling and how to overcome my conditioned habits. Her knowledge on the subject is deep, and she has experience in many different styles, so whatever your chosen genre, Emily is ideal and inspiring. Emily has truly inspired me to sing with ease and in my natural voice. She is certainly by far the best teacher and guide I have ever come across. You will not be disappointed with what this beautiful soul has to offer."

"I’d highly recommend Emily! I feel she has taken me down many avenues that I didn’t even know existed. Not only has my singing ability improved, but also my understanding of the voice and how/why so much change has taken place. Emily’s insight and attention to detail has been so inspiring and made me feel much more in control. She’s given me so many practical techniques that have transformed the way I approach singing now - and there’s no looking back!"

"Emily Jackson is possibly the BEST vocal coach anyone could need. It’s not just vocal coaching but achieving a sound state of mind while developing yourself as an artiste. Highly recommend and a general good soul.
I first came to Emily, 15 years out of the singing game and having little or no confidence after various life events. I wanted to achieve something and decided a good goal was to complete the grades I never finished while I was in school. Emily helped me with a making an informed choice as to which grading exam board would be best suited to my skill set and once we had a goal, we were off and away.
Emily was always professional and was not just extremely knowledgeable in the theory of music, but also the biological factors, i.e. the biological anatomy, and muscle groups of how a voice works. Knowing exactly how to warm up and cool down at the beginning and end of every lesson. Her knowledge of enunciation and ways to improve and tweak problems in applying the correct vowels to lyrics in order to get a stronger and more dynamic vocal sound.
I had issues with my bridge and mix voice and trying not to project my voice constantly in songs that had varying volume levels. I had confidence issues and self-esteem issues in that I did not think I was good enough. Emily has taught me one of the most important tools that I now use in everyday life. If has said “it doesn’t sound right”, Emily would add the word “yet” on to the end to remind me that confidence building is a journey. Emily had a caring and professional approach and worked with me, and when I got frustrated with myself, she would find a way to make correct things I was having trouble with.
Since singing with Emily, I have gained my Grade 8 with Trinity Rock and Pop in July 2018, I have sang backing vocals with a punk band, and have been in various professional working Choirs, including the Cream Classical Choir. More recently, I have provided backing vocals as a session singer for a sport documentary called ‘Howards Way’, about the time Howard Kendall managed Everton in the 1980s. This was first released as a charity single, then as a DVD had has had massive DVD sales. It has been played on Sky Documentaries Channel in June 2020 and the song itself is played at home games at Goodison Park.
I would not have had the confidence to do any of these without Emily Jackson and her tenacity, confidence building and vocal coaching."
